Prerequisites for Clinical Experience
Prerequisites for Clinical Experience:
- Accepted into the School Library Media Program (requires successful passage of the Basic Skills test and finger-print based criminal background investigation. See Background Check for more information).
- Attend a SLMP Information Session
- Submit Application for Clinical Experience and professional autobiography to SLMP office, Lewis 323 (Fall Placement Deadline: April 1; Spring/Summer Placement Deadline: September 1)
- Schedule interview with the Coordinator of Clinical Practice after submission of CE application (Fall Placement: Interview in April; Spring/Summer Placement: Interview in September)
- Pass the Library Information Specialist content test (Fall Placement Deadline: August 1: Spring/Summer Placement Deadline: December 1)
- Complete nine required GSLIS courses (Fall Placement Deadline: September 1: Spring/Summer Placement Deadline: January 1)
- Complete pre-clinical experience and submit reports to SLMP office before beginning clinical experience
- Pass a TB test. Testing should be done no more than one year before placement.
Additional prerequisites for student teachers (5-week placement):
- Pass three education courses: Educational Psychology, History & Philosophy of Education, and Exceptional Child (including learning disabilities)
- Submit original transcripts to SLMP office (Fall Placement deadline: September 1; Spring/Summer Placement deadline: January 1)
